2 Corinthians 12:9

My absolute favorite verse….because at the end of the day, I’m only human.

“But He said to me, ‘my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’”
-2 Corinthians 12:9

Confession time! (That’s what blogs are for, right?!) Hi! I’m Tina and I am a complete and utter mess of a human. Let’s see…I am 30 years old (semi-recent and semi-traumatizing). Uhhh…I’m a public schoolteacher (YIKES). I’m single (which shouldn’t in and of itself be messy, but ya know, 68% feminism vs. the questions about why I haven’t found someone yet = face palm). Annnnnnnd I happen to think this awful, BEAUTIFUL life is made of pure magic, especially for those who not just risk being messy (this word will take on MANY definitions throughout this blog), but for those who embrace what comes after. “For when I am weak, then I am strong”….I’m Tina and because I am a complete and utter mess of a human, I’d argue that I’m that much closer to experiencing perfection (or at least my definition of it).

Post 1 - Pic 4

My imperfect self, messy bun and all. Is the purpose for this blog making sense yet? My goal is to bring you snippets of beauty and perfection and all the good things that actually come from messiness. I want to share myself with you and lessons I’ve learned (some harder than others because I’m a drama queen) from ALL aspects of life including family and my classroom and also posts about health as well (the subjects most near and dear to my heart).

Joey

A picture of my little brother in all his glory. A post for another time, but his story is completely wrapped up in what I consider to be flawed perfection, in the Lord’s strength made perfect in weakness.  I will share soon.

Post 1 - Classroom

And here you have my classroom. The kids that have walked through this door have officially given me emotional whiplash. I may be a bit dramatic (OK a lot dramatic), but no one can fully prepare you for this job. Let’s be real, no one can fully prepare you for this life!! Thank God for that, right? How could we ever know the highest highs without experiencing weakness, vulnerability, failures, rock bottom, and some hard to handle children along the way…

I have so much more I want to say, but I shan’t get ahead of myself the first time around. But for the future, you can expect posts on life lessons I have learned so far each centered around a theme of beautiful messes. Or flawed perfection.

Until next week lovelies,
-Tina

  5. Hey Tina! Loved reading your blog! So great to see a former student and childhood friend/classmate of one of my own kids be so successful and enjoying life! And not to mention the fact that we have something in common with a teaching career. I can’t wait to hear some of your school stories! I’m very proud of where you are in life and who you have become, most importantly, a woman of God! He will always lead you and be there for you through life’s ups and downs. God bless! Excited to follow you!

    1. Hi Mrs. Korzekwa!!! I am overwhelmed by this love and support, it truly does mean everything to me. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and then bless me yet again with your kind words. Not that I feel in the least bit worthy (I wonder every day if my heart is big enough for this gig), but teaching truly is a service to the Lord. I never knew how challenging this would be and I have a whole new level of respect for people like yourself. What I would give to sit and listen to some of your stories!!! Thank you once more for commenting and I hope to hear from you again!

    1. Hi Fiona, thank you so much for this. I have so many things I want to say and I want to connect with as many bloggers as I can, but I’m finding that it’s very hard to organize my thoughts, write something meaningful, and be a good elementary teacher all at the same time. Writing means a lot to me and so did your nomination, I just wish I could be on here more often!!! Continuing to follow you and I hope that you get to open your little shop some day. 🙂

      1. You are very welcome. It is difficult to find the time to write sometimes, particularly when you are doing a full time job as well and also finding inspiration to write in those small times when you have a window for doing so. Keep with it, your blog is lovely and it’s quality rather than quantity!
